Ranking The Top 3 2021 NFL Draft Class Quarterbacks
This upcoming 2021 NFL draft class is looking very good especially at the quarterback position. I will break down the top 3 quarterbacks and which ones I thInk are either overrated or underrated.
NUMBER ONE
TREVOR LAWRENCE
Trevor Lawrence is an elite prospect and is the consensus number one overall pick. He averaged 9 yards per passing attempt, 66.6% completion, while racking up 10,098 total yards and 90 touchdowns but he couldn't just pass the ball well he also ran the ball well he had 18 rushing touchdowns during his 3 years at Clemson university, where he led the Tigers to 3 Playoff Appearances, 2 National Title Games and Winning the National Championship. This was pretty much a no Brainer for me and so my number one NFL draft Prospect is Trevor Lawrence.
Number Two
Justin Fields
Justin Fields has been falling in draft boards these past few weeks and has been commonly listed as the third best quarterback in many people's rankings. The reason he is second for me is after Justin FIelds beat Trevor Lawerance in the Playoffs he has been my number two then suddenly out of nowhere this Zach Wilson guy comes shooting up peoples draft boards. A little while ago after college football was over, and I ask myself what did Zach Wilson do after the season was over, the answer was Nothing. I don't know why Zach Wilson Has been getting so much hype. Some people's argument to that is now people are really starting to look super close at everything these quarterbacks are doing. There has been an addressed problem in Justin Fields game such as locking in on one receiver and I have two counters to that 1. We saw it on film it may just be the way his eyes and head look 2. Even if he does have that problem of locking into one receiver I dont think it is that big of a deal because he will be surrounded by the best coaches in the world in the NFL and it seems like a very fixable problem. He is humongous at 6’3 and 228 Ibs and is very mobile and has amazing arm strength that is why Justin Fields is the 2nd Best quarterback in this draft class.
Number Three
Mac Jones
Mac Jones has been commonly listed as the number five quarterback on many people's rankings, but to me what matters a lot more than how many weapons you had or how good the coach was. What level of competition are you playing? Zach Wilson was 2-4 against ranked teams over his 3 years at BYU and had a Touchdown Interception ratio of 8-5 against ranked teams. And Trey Lance no shame on him but he has never played a ranked team during his college career. Now let's stop talking about why Trey Lance and Zach Wilson don't deserve this spot but why Mac Jones does. In 2018 he barely played and in 2019 he played at the tail end of the season when Tua got injured and looked okay but then he had a breakout season in 2020, he led every single college quarterback in Yards with 4,500 he was second in passing touchdowns with 41, had a completion percentage of 77.4 and only had four interceptions. But the amazing thing was he did all of that playing against good teams. He also led Alabama to a National Title and also an undefeated season. Nick Saban the greatest coach in college football who watched Mac Jones every day said that “ Mac Jones had a phenomenal season, I mean, the completion percentage that he had, the accuracy, the command of the offense, the understanding of coverage and getting the ball to right guys, consistency in performance, a guy that’s played awesome. He’s a very bright guy.” Those are the words of Nick Saban.
For all of the reasons I just stated I think Mac Jones is the 3rd best quarterback in this upcoming NFL draft.
Awesome!
